Flair Collection
Spring 2023 Release
The Flair collection is inspired by geometric yet soft patterns and the goal to create a 3-dimensional pattern using Capiz shell. Having the angled pattern overlap itself allows for natural light leak and gradients, creating a warm glow and a light, airy feel.
I explored the 3D pattern with paper modeling and made templates in Adobe Illustrator - I was able to determine the size of each Capiz piece and how far they extended outwards. This model helped clearly communicate this idea to the factory and the Capiz craftsmen.
Capiz craftsmen in the Philippines hand cut the shells, hand wrapped them in brass sheet, and soldered them together to create this intricate pattern. The shade also went through multiple washing processes to sand and clean off dirt and deep imperfections.
This soft, geometric, airy collection consists of 2 pendants, a wall sconce, and an island light, with unique and interesting views from any angle.
