The Madura Collection
Summer 2021 Release
The indigo and black color theme along with its simple, geometric shape and floating center make the Madura Collection a modern statement fixture that still exudes warmth from its natural materials and weaving techniques.
These shades are hand-woven and dyed by artisans in the Philippines, and the family includes 1 flush mount, 2 pendants, and 1 island light.
It all starts with ideation and determining the dimensions...
Our factory in the Philippines welded together the 28” frame and sourced different blue and black jute options. I chose the blue dyed jute and requested the black color to be even darker and richer.
At this point, I was able to make adjustments to the frame too - I specifically removed the bottom horizontal supports that connect the two shades together. There were still supports at the top, and the visual floating effect made the piece better.
I kept the metal supports between the two shades at the top only - this makes it look like the center shade is floating.
By placing the light bulbs at the center of the shade, a warm glow emits from the fixture with minimal glare. The light weight jute and the medium weave still allow a good amount of light to travel through the material too.
The indigo color contrasts subtly with the black to create a little surprise when a person really takes a look at the fixture.
